While the uniaxial tension test is the most dominant material test
type, most sheet metal forming operations involve biaxial tensile
deformation, and thus it is important to characterize materials
under such loading conditions. We perform several types of biaxial
tension tests for this purpose
-
Custom tests performed with several approaches: bulge test,
Nakajima test,Marciniak test, and cruciform biaxial test
- Material screening based on biaxial energy absorption
- Construction of effective biaxial stress/strain curves
-
Evaluation of fracture strain limits under balanced biaxial
loading with stress triaxialities approaching 0.67 (support the
calibration of fracture models _ GISSMO)
- Quasi-static rates, as well as intermediate rates
